Join us again in the Republic of Ireland – Dublin on 29 April 2027 as we continue our Study Club series into 2027.  We look forward to welcoming implant professionals from across Ireland for an evening of education, networking and collaboration.

Be part of our existing chapter for the ADI and connect with fellow impant professionals from across Ireland.

This Study Club will explore whether fully guided implant surgery should now be considered the standard of care in modern implant dentistry. Drawing on eight years of exclusive experience with guided implant placement, Dr Martin Attariani will share the clinical, digital and restorative advantages of a fully guided workflow, while providing practical insights into its implementation, limitations and real-world application.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the rationale for fully guided implant surgery - compare freehand and fully guided implant placement and understand the potential advantages of prosthetically driven digital planning.
  • Recognise the clinical and patient benefits -  understand how guided surgery can facilitate surgical precision, minimally invasive treatment, efficient workflows and an improved patient experience.
  • Understand the fully digital workflow - identify the key stages from CBCT and intra-oral scanning through digital planning, guide design and surgical execution, including potential sources of error..
  • Evaluate implementation in everyday practice - recognise the equipment, training and workflow changes required to incorporate fully guided implant surgery safely and predictably into clinical practice.

Host: Dr Peter Doherty

Dr Peter Doherty is one of the co-founders and owners of 3Dental, one of Ireland's largest private dental groups, with clinics in Dublin, Limerick and Galway. He limits his clinical practice exclusively to implant dentistry, with a particular focus on full-mouth rehabilitation, immediate loading, zygomatic implants and pterygoid implants. He is also the only ZAGA-certified clinician in Ireland, recognising advanced expertise in treating patients with severe bone loss using zygomatic implant techniques. Under his clinical leadership, all 3Dental practices have also been recognised as NeoArch Centres of Excellence by Neodent

Speaker: Dr Liliana Silva

GDC No. 101539

Dr Martin Attariani is a dentist, implantologist and passionate advocate for digital dentistry. A graduate of the University of Gothenburg in Sweden, he has undertaken more than 7,000 hours of postgraduate education, with a particular focus on implantology, digital dentistry and restorative and aesthetic treatment.

An early adopter of digital technology, Dr Attariani began using intra-oral scanning in 2007 and guided implant surgery in 2013. For the past eight years, he has placed every implant using a fully guided approach.

His clinical philosophy centres on prosthetically driven planning, precision and minimally invasive implant dentistry, using digital technology to make complex treatment more predictable for both clinician and patient.

Outside conventional dentistry, he is also known as “The Magic Dentist,” combining his skills as a magician and dentist to make oral-health education engaging and accessible to the wider public.
